Surgery

Routine surgeries such as spays and neuters, tumor removals etc. are performed by Dr. Burns regularly. Floresta Animal Hospital offers the most advanced surgical technology and expertly trained staff to perform these procedures on your pet.

Surgery Information

Routine lab work is performed on all pets having surgery to ensure all surgical candidates are healthy prior to surgery. Sometimes pets with other illnesses need surgical procedures. These can be safely done by identifying any potential problems in advance.

An intravenous (IV) catheter is placed in your pet to facilitate the administration of pain relief medications and induction agents, as well as to ensure the continuous delivery of fluids during the surgical procedure. This approach helps maintain optimal hydration and supports stable blood pressure throughout surgery.

Throughout the procedure, we utilize advanced monitoring equipment to continuously track your pet’s vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiration. Our dedicated surgical team, highly trained in veterinary anesthesia and patient care, closely observes these parameters to ensure your pet’s safety and well-being at all times.

To promote comfort, we cover your pet with warm blankets during and after surgery, helping to maintain their body temperature and reduce stress.

Post-operatively, our team provides diligent monitoring to ensure your pet transitions smoothly from anesthesia during recovery. We verify that they wake comfortably and that their vital parameters are within normal ranges before being reunited with you. Our goal is to ensure your pet’s safe recovery and ongoing well-being.
