Ultrasound, Echocardiogram, and Electrocardigram

Technology plays a crucial role in the non-invasive evaluation of our patients. Ultrasound is an essential diagnostic tool used to assess the abdominal cavity and bladder. It is particularly valuable for evaluating congenital diseases, gallbladder conditions, and the structural integrity of internal organs and intestines. All ultrasounds performed in our facility are sent to a board-certified radiologist for interpretation, ensuring the highest accuracy in diagnosis. In critical cases, we can often receive results within a few hours.

Echocardiograms are vital for assessing the dynamics of blood flow and pressures within the heart’s chambers and vessels. When a heart murmur is detected, an echocardiogram is recommended to prevent further cardiac damage. While the presence of a murmur indicates a disturbance in blood flow, it does not specify the location or severity of the underlying condition. All echocardiograms are reviewed by a board-certified cardiologist, who collaborates with Dr. Burns to formulate the most effective treatment plan moving forward.

Electrocardiograms (ECGs) are transmitted directly to the cardiologist via secure internet channels. This test provides valuable insights into the heart rate, rhythm, and the electrical impulses generated by your pet’s heartbeat. It can identify abnormalities such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), structural issues, and atrial fibrillation.
